About Kent W. Chauvin

Kent Chauvin was born in Toronto and raised in Victoria, but spent most of his investment career in Vancouver. He trained at the Merrill Lynch “Military School” in New York City, and spent 48 years in the investment business – 43 of those with the same firm. He looked after three generations of clients, including some who entrusted him with their investments for over 40 years.

The book includes some amusing and enlightening stories about clients, including the time he opened an account for a dog as a favour to a good client, and anecdotes about colleagues and managers, including the manager from hell and the broker who murdered her stepmother.

This engaging book distills Kent’s vast experience in the field, highlighting the investment habits of some highly successful (and some spectacularly unsuccessful) clients and providing reassuring and valuable insights into the psychology of investors through different generations. Boom and bust, bull and bear… everything comes and goes in cycles.
